Area Girls Basketball: Verndale wins Park Region

NEW YORK MILLS — Teresa Moenkedick became Verndale’s all-time leading scorer and helped the Pirates win the Park Region Conference Tuesday.

Moenkedick scored 28 leading Verndale to a 72-49 victory over New York Mills.

All nine Pirates players scored lifting their conference mark to 9-3. Elyssa Kern scored 11. Jordyn Glenz 10 and Krista Dailey eight to help Verndale to its 11th win in 12 games.

OGILVIE — The Aitkin Gobblers, led by 18 points from Madison Newton, swept the Ogilvie Lions with a 51-33 Great River Conference win Tuesday.

Newton connected on six 3-point baskets as the Gobblers won for the fourth time in five games.
