Lakes area resident Jeff Schmidt won the 440 Superstock Liquid class, finished second with a Scorpion in 400 Mod Single, was third with the Sportfire in 500 Mod Fan and fourth in the 440 Superstock Fan class at the Grey Eagle Oval Racers Alliance event last weekend.
Jeff’s son, Nathan Schmidt, drove the Sportfire and finished third in the 500 Mod Fan Trophy and placed fifth in 440 Superstock 440 Fan Trophy.
This was the final race of the 3-race Wahl Brothers Vintage Challenge. Jeff Schmidt was the high-point driver in 440 Superstock Liquid and took third in 440 Superstock Fan.
The final ORA event is Saturday, Feb. 23, at Garrison.
■ USXC at Hoyt Lakes
Area racers competed in the sixth event of the United States Cross Country (USXC) racing series last weekend at Hoyt Lakes.
Nathan Moritz from Emily had another great weekend on an Arctic Cat. He was second in Semi Pro Improved and third in Semi Pro 600.
Following last weekend, Moritz sits second in Semi Pro and third in Semi Pro Improved in the season points chase with two events remaining. Park Rapids hosts an event March 2-3. The Grand Finale is March 9 at Warroad.
Ryan Trout of Browerville was first in the Sport 85 class and second in Junior 16-17 class on his Arctic Cat.
