Area Girls Basketball: C-I beats Pequot in OT

CROSBY — Chelsea Bonsante’s 29 points helped lead the Crosby-Ironton Rangers to a 77-72 overtime victory against the Pequot Lakes Patriots in a Mid-State Conference game Monday.

Meredith Silgen scored 15 points and Shannon Lundgren 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Rangers who had lost three of their last four games.

Kayla Miller led six scorers with 21 points for the Patriots, who had won four of their last five games.

Vanessa Lane added 20 points, Jessica Kreitz followed with 15 points and Katie White scored 10 points.

WADENA — Emily Miron led five scorers with 18 points as the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines snapped the Pine River-Backus Tigers six game winning streak with a 51-46 non-conference victory Monday.

Hope Theisen added 17 points for the Wolverines who have won their last two games and are 14-9 overall.

Megan Felthous scored a game high 19 points and Tatum Sheley for the 19-4 Tigers.

VERNDALE — Teresa Moenkedick tallied 17 points to lead Verndale as the Pirates saw their 10-game win streak snapped at the hands of Swanville by a score of 52-48 in Monday’s Section 5-1A game.

Elyssa Kern netted 12 points for Verndale.

Marissa Evans led the Bulldogs with 26 points as they avenged a 70-45 loss to Verndale on Dec. 18 and snapped their eight game skid.
