MINNEAPOLIS — Aitkin’s title defense fell one spot short.
The Aitkin dance team placed second in the Class 1A state high kick competition Saturday at Target Center, losing only to its state nemesis Cannon Falls.
The Bombers won for the sixth time and denied Aitkin back-to-back titles, like Aitkin did to Cannon Falls last season.
The two perennial powerhouses entered the state tournament with five state titles each.
Aitkin’s Bailey Barber and Kassie Kokesh were selected to the Class 1A High Kick all-tournament team.
