ST. CLOUD — St. Cloud State University forward Ben Hanowski of Little Falls, who scored three times and had 10 shots on net as the Huskies took three of four points from North Dakota last weekend to move into first place in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, has been named Red Baron WCHA Men’s Offensive Player of the Week for Jan. 29.
A 6-2, 195-pound senior left wing, Hanowski was also named the No. 2 star of the game both nights.
He opened the weekend by scoring the game-winning goal in the Huskies’ 3-1 victory over UND Jan. 25. He finished the night with seven shots on goal, was plus 1 and provided four of SCSU’s 22 blocked shots.
Hanowski ended the weekend with a two-goal night Jan. 26 as the Huskies’ played UND to a 2-2 overtime tie.
For the season, Hanowski has 11 goals and 10 assists for 21 points and leads the team with 88 shots on net. In 140 collegiate games, he has 103 points (56 goals, 47 assists).
The Huskies play at Bemidji State Friday and Saturday. Both games will be televised on Lakeland Public Television.
