ROBBINSDALE — Tyle Sarff scored four goals and Mike Madson two, all in the first two periods, as Robbinsdale/Hopkins/MoundWest defeated the Brainerd Warriors 6-0 Monday night.
The Warriors slapped 28 shots against Robbinsdale goalie Charlie Wittmer, who was up to the challenge by stopping each attempt.
“Robbinsdale’s goalie was spot-on all night, showing why they have not lost a game in over two years,” Brainerd coach Todd Person said. “We played hard the whole game, but even when we were a man up on a power play, we could not get anything past Charlie. Robbinsdale came out very aggressive, which seemed to catch our players off guard but once we settled in we were able to slow them down.
“It was great to see our new players pick up on the little things that they were doing to beat our defense. This game definitely gave us some things to work on (Tuesday) in practice in preparation for Mounds View, a team we split with last year, on Wednesday.”
