Area Girls Basketball: Aitkin gobbles up Jaguars

HINCKLEY — Six Aitkin Gobblers scored in double figures, led by Madison Newton’s 13 points, in Thursday’s 75-33 Great River Conference win over Hinckley-Finlayson.

Cassie Sandberg added 12 points followed by Bailey Nordean and Melissa Paulson with 11 each and Megan Welshons and Mikayla Michaletz with 10 apiece for the Gobblers, who have won 11 of their last 12 games.

The Gobblers shot 69 percent (31-45) from the field and registered 30 assists, while committing just seven turnovers.
