The Elks Central District Hoop Shoot is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Lake Region Christian School in Baxter.
Students from Alexandria, Fergus Falls, Hutchinson, Willmar, Wadena and Brainerd will compete.
Students from Brainerd competing are:
■ Girls 8-9, Meghan Smith, Baxter Elementary
■ Boys 8-9, Carsen Turk, Crosby-Ironton
■ Girls 10-11, Shyanne Loiland, C-I
■ Boys 10-11, Cayden Turk, C-I
■ Girls 12-13, Shayle Loiland, C-I
■ Boys 12-13, Braedon Wangsness, Pillager.
Six students in each boys/girls age division in the district competition will advance to the state hoop shoot Feb. 9 at Hutchinson.
State winners go on to the regional hoop shoot at Iowa City, Iowa, in March.
The national hoop shoot is in April at Springfield, Mass.
