BAXTER — Daniel Newton hit for 19 points to surpass 1,000 for his career on Friday night.

Unfortunately, the Lake Region Hornets were outscored 21-11 in the second half and lost 39-38 to Karlstad.

Hayden Brooks tallied 10 points for the Hornets, who shot just 38 percent from the field.

VERNDALE — Dallas Ehrmantraut scored 23 points to surpass the 1,000-point mark for his career as Verndale downed Bertha-Hewitt 73-56 in Park Region Conference play Friday.

Ehrmantraut became the eighth Pirate to score 1,000. He joins Dick Finck (1,492), Zach Meidinger (1,471), Paul Seaton (1,215), Cory Umland (1,162), Eric Runyan (1,078), Shane Finck (1070) and Jack Schmitz (1,050).

Josh Gilb added 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Pirates while teammate James Kveton added eight points and 10 rebounds.
