LUTSEN — Alex Stone finished 12th with a time of 74.56 to pace the Brainerd girls to a fourth-place finish in the Warriors’ season opener Friday in the Cook County Invite.
The Warrior boys finished ninth and were led by Grant Madison’s time of 84.96 in 37th place.
Joining Stone in the top 20 were Jaden Lindner (17th), Hannah Moen (19th) and Emily Aga (20th).
“We were really pleased with how our girls did for the first meet of the season,” said Brainerd coach Jim Ruttger. “The boys had issues all day with lots of falls and didn’t execute well.”
Logan Backstrom of Cook County won the boys race with a time of 56.58. McKenzie Bremel of Hermantown/Proctor won the girls race in 67.47.
