ST. CLOUD — A three-goal lead with a little more three minutes left in regulation fell apart for the Brainerd Warriors, who gave up four unanswered goals and lost 5-4 in overtime to the St. Cloud Tech Tigers in Thursday’s Central Lakes Conference game.
It was the third straight overtime game for the Warriors, who beat St. Cloud Apollo and lost to Alexandria by 4-3 scores.
Brainerd secured a 4-1 lead in the third after a pair of goals by Isaac Johnson and single goals from Griffin Campbell and Reno Fussy.
An even strength goal by Riley Bates at 13:46 started the St. Cloud comeback and Jake Peterson netted a power-play goal at 15:36 with Brainerd’s Jed Rusk off the ice for hooking.
With the Tiger goalie pulled, Peterson knotted the score at 16:19 and Davis Reinholz tallied the game winner 5:05 into the overtime. Tanner Skaja assisted on all four of the final St. Cloud goals.
