Using the course set up for next week’s National IBU Team Trials, the race was a 10-kilometers mass start with four shooting stages — prone, prone, standing, standing. In the two-kilometer, five-lap configuration used, there is a steep major climb before entering the firing range.
The race was used by several Senior Class skiers, formerly with the Nisswa Northwest Club, as training for next weekend’s trials. At the top were Wynn Roberts, National Guard All Guard Team, formerly of Battle Lake, shooting 1,3,2,2 and finishing in 32:24, who dueled with Raleigh Goessling, formerly of Esko, who hung with Roberts up to the final shooting stage where Goessling missed four and dropped behind in the penalty loop, shooting 2,1,2,4 in 33:10.
Evan Ingebrigtson, Baxter, shot 4,3,3,3 in 53:54 for second in the Masters class behind Duda and Pelle Christiansen, Nisswa, shot 3,1,3,3 in 57:33 for third.
