Warrior Girls Basketball: Warriors secure first win

LITTLE FALLS — Heather Fletcher posted 15 rebounds and 13 points to help the Brainerd Warriors to a 58-28 non-conference victory over rival Little Falls Saturday.

Both teams were without key players. The Flyers’ Jamie Jenks didn’t play nor did Brainerd’s Taylor Johnshoy, who missed the game because of ACT testing.

That didn’t hamper the Warriors, who held Little Falls to 20 percent shooting and cut their turnovers from 31 on Tuesday to 13 Saturday.

“As a team, we were a lot more patient and a lot more under control,” said Warrior head coach Brian McAllister. “We had pretty balanced scoring. The defense played a lot better. It was much improved from Tuesday.”

Heather Jaeche scored 11 points and Katelyn Johnson and Maria West both added nine for the 1-1 Warriors.

Melanie Dorn tallied 12 points and five steals for the Flyers, who drop to 0-5.
