Area Girls Basketball: Hornets sting Fourth Baptist

BAXTER — Bethany Cressman led all scorers with 16 points and Marlee Moore added 14 as the Lake Region Christian Hornets opened the season with a 52-17 MACS victory over Fourth Baptist Friday.

Cressman shot 88 percent from the field and Moore hit on 64 percent of her shots.

As a team Lake Region shot 52 percent and held Fourth Baptist to 32 percent.

RICHFIELD — Mikayla Wing and Kelly Pearson each tallied 11 points for Class 2A’s sixth-ranked Staples-Motley Cardinals as they were defeated 72-53 by Class 3A’s top-ranked Richfield Spartans in a non-conference game Friday.

Richfield’s Jessica January scored 21 points.
