Brainerd pond hockey deadline Dec. 21
The deadline to register for the Brainerd Parks and Recreation Department’s Pond Hockey program is Dec. 21.
Cost is $35 per participant. Helmets, shin guards, elbow pads and jerseys are provided. A limited number of breezers are also available. Each participant must provide their own stick, skates and mouthguard.
The Penguins are ages 7-10 and Polar Bears are ages 11-15. Ages are determined as of Jan. 1, 2013. Both leagues are for boys and girls.
The season will begin Jan. 3 and culminate with the pond hockey jamboree at Brainerd Area Civic Center Feb. 23. Practices are once or twice a week, depending on the coach’s schedule. Games are played Saturday mornings at Brainerd, Baxter or Nisswa, depending on the schedule.
Equipment handout and a parents’ meeting will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 22 at the Mill Avenue Park warming house.
Register at the Lum Park office during regular business hours. A mail-in registration form can be found at www.brainerdparks.com. Mail-in registrations must be received by Dec. 21.
Volunteer coaches are needed.
