Jim Russell, head men’s basketball coach at Central Lakes College, and Scott Stanfield, head boys basketball coach at Brainerd High School, will present “Basketball Savvy” at 7 p.m. Nov. 15 in the Chalberg Theatre on the Brainerd campus of CLC.
The one-hour program is free to members of the Center for Lifelong Learning (CLL), $6 for non-members.
Pick and roll. One-on-one. Zone. How well do you understand these and other basketball terms and strategies? Knowing the ins and outs of basketball increases one’s enjoyment of the play.
The two coaches will share their knowledge and expertise derived from years of playing, studying and coaching.
They will explain strategic defenses and offenses in counteracting opponents’ strength and weakness, the meaning of point guard, power forward, and other basketball terms.
They will also give a brief history of the game and talk about changes that have been made in the last 40 years.
This is a program for all ages who want to enhance their basketball knowledge and become better “bleacher coaches.”
