Final Soap Box Derby Sept. 22 in Brainerd
The final Brainerd Lakes Downhill Drags Soap Box Derby race of the season will take place at 11 a.m. Sept. 22 at the Lum Park hill on 15th Ave N.E.
Age categories are 6- to 7-year olds, 8-9, 10-11 and 12 and up.
Any child wishing to race one of the loaner cars must pre-register at the Brainerd Parks and Recreation Department before Sept. 21. Children will be assigned to a car at the race. Eleven loaner cars are available.
First-time racers must be at the Lum Park track between 9:30 and 10 a.m. and take two practice runs off the starting gate to get the feel of the starting gate and drive a car before race time. All racers must be at least 6 years old and will race down an actual hill.
Participants must be pre-registered and pre-paid by noon Sept. 21. Registration is $5 per participant.
