ST. CLOUD — The Maple Lake Lakers claimed the 2012 Minnesota Baseball Association’s Class C state championship Monday with a 6-4 victory over the Fairmont Martins.
It’s the third time Maple Lake has won a state title, but its first since 1939.
Jeremy Schmidt of Maple Lake was named the tournament’s most valuable player.
Brian Redemske, son of Staples High School graduates Mark and Paula Redemske, went 1-3 with a run in the championship game for Maple Lake.
Redemske had four hits, an RBI and three runs in five tournament games for the Lakers.
