HANCOCK — Dillon Card rushed 29 times for 171 yards and completed seven of 21 passes for 97 yards to lead the Verndale Pirates past the Hancock Owls 36-32 in Friday’s season opening non-conference game.
Card rushed for three touchdowns and passed for another to Dallas Ehrmantraut, who also broke the century mark in rushing with 103 yards on 19 carries.
The Pirates limited the Owls to minus two yards rushing, but Hancock threw for 361 yards completing 20 of 38 passes.
