Brittney Noon of Wadena-Deer Creek and Wolverines coach Sue Volkmann will participate in the Minnesota High School Volleyball Coaches Association All-Star match at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Michael-Albertville High School.
Noon, who will play for the Red Team, is a 5-9 outside hitter. She helped the Wolverines to a 27-6 record last season, which ended with W-DC losing to Jordan in the Class 2A third-place match at the state tournament.
The Wolverines advanced to state in each of her four years on the varsity (2008-2011). In 2010, W-DC finished 33-0 en route to the 2A state championship. Noon was part of a 50-match win streak compiled by W-DC and was named to the Minnesota State High School League all-tournament team in 2010.
In 2011, Noon was named to the all-state team. She was named to the All-Mid-State Conference team four times. In 2010 and 2011 she was named to the St. Paul Pioneer Press All-State team and made The Breakdown’s all-state team.
Noon was a member of the Brainerd Dispatch All-Area team four times and was the Dispatch’s player of the year in 2011. She finished her W-DC career with 1,483 kills.
This fall, Noon will attend Minnesota State-Mankato and play volleyball for the Mavericks.
Volkmann is one of six coaches on the Red Team’s staff. Her Wolverines finished 27-6 in 2011 and advanced to their fourth straight state tournament.
