Lakewood League Baseball: Bees win two of three

COLD SPRING — The Brainerd Bees defeated Austin 5-0 and Marshall 3-0 and lost to the Minneapolis Cobras 8-7 Saturday in the Nick Bell tournament.

Against Austin, Tim Martin pitched the win by striking out six and allowing just five hits and one walk. Pat Skogen was 2-4 with an RBI, Tom Fairbanks hit a solo home run and Joel Martin and Blake Eller both hit RBI singles.

Jack Hegarty was tagged with the loss against the Cobras. He went three innings of relief giving up four runs on five hits.

Tyler Lenz was 2-3, Hegarty was 1-3 with two runs and an RBI, Joel Martin drove in a run and Skogen hit an RBI double.

Eller pitched the shutout win over Marshall. He allowed three hits and struck out four.

Kyle Crocker hit an RBI single, Hegarty was 2-3 with an RBI and Blake Peterson hit a sacrifice fly to drive in the other Brainerd run.

The Bees moved to 11-9 overall and travel to Sauk Rapids 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to face the Cyclones.
