Whether you’re a big fan of motorcycles flying down the drag strip or around the Competition Road Course on two wheels and a knee or daredevils riding bikes on one wheel at a time, Brainerd International Raceway will be the place for you Friday through Sunday.
It’s the Midwest Cycle Fest, an all-bike affair for fans of all ages. A single ticket gets fans into the gates to watch it all.
On the drag strip, the Midwest Motorcycle Drag Racing Association will provide the racing action for street bikes all the way up to super-modified drag bikes. Bikes will compete in six classes: Pro Street, Grudge, Street ET, Pro ET, Crazy 8s and StreetFighter.
On the Competition Road Course, the Central Roadracing Association will show off its Superbikes in a number of different classes. It’s the second of five weekends the CRA will race at BIR this summer. Racing starts Friday and ends Sunday, rain or shine.
If racing isn’t your bag, BIR has the Midwest Stunt Fest all weekend with stunt riders treating fans to crazy bike stunts. There will also be a competition, with prize money and a 70cc Pit Bike on the line for the winners. Qualifying is scheduled Saturday and eliminations Sunday. All stunts will be in the drag strip pit area near the brick condos.
Bike displays and a bike dyno will be available behind the BIR grandstand. Live music Saturday night will be courtesy of Cherry Gun in the Wheelie Bar & Grille.
“For those who love bikes, this is a great weekend to be at Brainerd International Raceway,” BIR owner Jed Copham said in a news release. “You’ll get a taste of some great motorcycle racing, and the stunt riding will be incredible. This will be a great event for the whole family.”
Daily admission is $15 for adults and $5 for students ages 6-12. On-site camping is free with a multi-day ticket.
