Wide receiver Ra Ra Jones was the recipient of two long scoring passes as the Brainerd Lumberjacks won their fourth straight game, 24-0 over the Lakes Area Terror in their home opener Saturday at Harvey Shew Field in Brainerd.
Jones scored on a 65-yard halfback pass from Mark Hummel and a 55 yarder from quarterback Jackson Illies. Illies also threw a scoring pass to Raayshaun Jeter and Josiah Powell added a 35-yard field goal, all of the scoring coming after a scoreless first half.
Cameron Halverson led the team in rushing and the defense had five interceptions, including one by Gyangelo Bradden who led the team with 10 tackles.
“We finally got a home game and finally got the offense going,” said Lumberjack head coach JJ Kern. “In a semi-pro league, everybody’s got jobs and it takes a while to get the timing clicking.”
The Lumberjacks are 4-1. They are tied for second in the Midwest Premier League with the Minnesota Sting, who they face Saturday at East Ridge High School and will then host the Titans June 23.
