Brainerd High School pitcher Nikki Anderson is one of seven finalists for the Ms. Softball Award.
Anderson was named to the Minnesota High School Fastpitch Coaches Association all-state first team. She also was selected to the St. Paul Pioneer Press all-state first team.
In addition, Anderson will play for the Heat team in the Minnesota High School All-Star Girls Softball Series on Sunday at Caswell Park in North Mankato.
Additional finalists for Ms. Softball are Alex Benedict, Woodbury; Sydney Fabian, Hill-Murray; Taylor LeMay, East Ridge; Morgan Nybo, Hopkins; Carley Pickett, North St. Paul; and Cayli Sadler, Maple Grove.
Finalists for Mr. Baseball are Mitch Brown, Rochester Century; Blake Molitor, West Lutheran; Dan Motl, Burnsville; Kasey Ralston, Holy Family; Cody Rutledge, Bemidji; Tim Shannon, Hopkins; and Brent Stong, Andover.
These senior athletes have been selected by a panel of Major League Baseball scouts and college baseball and softball coaches from around the state. A banquet will take place June 17 at Jax Cafe in Minneapolis to honor their achievements and select a winner for each sport.
Richard Seltz (Austin, baseball coach) and Neil Johnson (Shakopee head coach) will be honored with Lifetime Achievement awards.
