STAPLES-MOTLEY — Guthrie Coughlin won at No. 1 singles for the No. 3-seeded Staples-Motley Cardinals, paving the way for a 7-0 victory over the No. 6 Park Rapids Panthers in the Section 8-1A team quarterfinals Monday.
Austin Hirschey, Matt Spar and Daniel Gartner racked up the other three singles victories for Staples-Motley.
Winning at No. 1 doubles for the Cardinals was the team of Shane Suess-Josh Solway, followed by wins from Grant Longbella-Dave Vogt and Robin Melse-Bernardo Freitas.
