WADENA — Michael Strain is a magnet for scorecard playoffs.

Unfortunately for the Staples-Motley senior, his junior teammate Mitch Hagenson knocked him off for the top spot at Saturday’s Wadena-Deer Creek Invite at Whitetail Run.

Both Cardinals shot 76s, with Hagenson winning the scorecard playoff. Trent Hagenson shot 77 for third place and Andrew Israelson fired a sixth-place 79 to lead the Cardinals to a 12-shot victory.

Crosby-Ironton’s James Cragun shot a fourth-place 78 to lead the Rangers to fourth place.

W-DC finished seventh.

Team scores: 1-Staples-Motley 308, 2-Park Rapids 320, 3-Grand Rapids 321, 4-Crosby-Ironton 363, 5-Nevis 368, 6-United North Central 382, 7-Wadena-Deer Creek 412.
