PRINCETON — A seven-run seventh and a six-run fifth ignited the Brainerd Warriors to a 13-8 victory over Princeton Saturday for seventh place in the Princeton tournament.
The Warriors lost its consolation semifinal game to Cloquet 2-0.
Drew Sannes was 3-3 and Mitch McLain was 2-3 with Blake Thiesse securing Brainerd’s other hit.
Peterson pitched all six innings. Just one of the runs he allowed was earned on four hits and three walks. He struck out nine in the loss.
Thiesse came on in relief of TJ Graumann in the final game to earn the win. He struck out five, walked one and allowed two runs on three hits.
In Brainerd’s fifth inning, Dalton Tibbetts was hit by a pitch. Logan McElfresh singled, Connor Gessell walked and Thiesse doubled. Peterson, Sannes and Tibbetts added singles.
Home runs by Nate Dechaine and McElfresh highlighted the Warriors seventh inning.
Thiesse led off the inning with a single followed by doubles from Sannes, McLain and Riley Kline. Tibbetts added another single in the inning.
