STAPLES — Aitkin Gobblers head coach Joe Walz couldn’t remember if the Aitkin Gobblers had ever beaten the Staples-Motley Cardinals.

He now only has to think back to Thursday as the Gobblers downed the Cardinals 5-2 in a non-conference match.

S-M’s Guthrie Coughlin won at No. 1 singles and the Cardinals’ No. 1 doubles team of Shane Suess-Josh Soloway also won. From there it was all Aitkin, which improved to 5-4.
