PINE RIVER — Nathan Holm went 4-4 at the plate with three RBIs, and pitched five innings with 15 strikeouts, in a 12-5 win for Pine River-Backus over Nevis in a Northland Conference game.
Russell Burgoyne had a big day, finishing 2-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Anthony Phillipson was another hitting star, going 2-3 with three RBIs for the Tigers.

AITKIN — Peter Zasmeta picked a good time for his first hit of the year ,driving a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh, giving the Aitkin Gobblers a 9-8 victory over Onamia in a Great River Conference game Thursday.
The Gobblers trailed 8-5 going into the sixth, but tallied three to set up the seventh.
Nathan Ehnstrom went 3-4 with a triple, two RBIs and a pair of runs scored for Aitkin. Travis Bare also tripled, driving in a run, and Jordan Chouanard doubled and scored for the 1-1 Gobblers.
Dan Bender was credited with the win.
