Maurice Hernandez of Central Lakes College on Tuesday became the first Raider in program history to be named first-team All-American when the NJCAA announced its Division III All-America team.
The 6-4, 220-pound sophomore from St. Paul, helped CLC to a 29-4 record this season, the most wins in program history, and a fourth-place finish in the Division III national tournament.
In his freshman year Hernandez helped CLC to a 26-3 mark, which at the time were the most wins in program history. CLC won its first 22 games in 2010-11.
He was named all-state this year and was a 2-time All-Southern Division player.
This season Hernandez led CLC and the division in scoring (17.9) and in rebounding (7.9). He shot 54 percent from the field.
