DULUTH — The Staples-Motley Cardinals opened the season with three tough losses Saturday as they fell to Apple Valley 7-0, Crookston 6-1 and Duluth Marshall 6-1.
Cardinals new head coach Dave Johnson said the team was without the services of three veterans.
S-M will face Becker Thursday.
