College Baseball: Raiders earn first win of season

Snap 47-game losing streak

Posted: March 27, 2012 - 11:17pm

MINNEAPOLIS — Sophomore Josh Edwards hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning to bring home Johnny Egan and give the Central Lakes College Raiders their first win in two years with a 5-4 victory over Rainy River Sunday at the Metrodome.

The victory snapped a 47-game losing streak.

Dustin Motschenbacher reached base when he was hit by a pitch. Egan ran for him and promptly stole second. Egan reached third on a passed ball before Edwards drove him home.

Taz Seibert hit an RBI double in the first.

“It was a good win for our sophomores,” said Raiders head coach Pat Held. “It was a really good deal for our sophomores, who didn’t win a game all of last year.”

Seibert and Derek Pihlaja held Rainy River to six hits and four runs. Pihlaja earned the win.

The Raiders lost Game Two 7-1. Seibert hit a triple and scored on Pete Lucken’s sacrifice fly.
