The Brainerd Warriors dance team will compete in the Section 4-3A at Elk River High School.
Twelve teams will compete and nine will be eliminated in each category.
The top three teams in each category advance to state competition.
Last year, Brainerd qualified for state in kick and was narrowly edged out in jazz competition, taking fourth place. The Warriors finished sixth in kick at the 2011 state tournament.
Brainerd head coach Cindy Clough said the team’s goal is to qualify for kick and jazz and advance to the state meet.
At sections, doors open at 10:45 a.m. with the high kick competition beginning at 11:30 a.m. and the jazz competition beginning at 1:15 p.m. Awards will be at 3 p.m.
Teams competing, in addition to Brainerd, will be Andover, Anoka, Bemidji, Champlin Park, Coon Rapids, Duluth East, Elk River, Moorhead, St. Cloud Tech, St. Francis, and Blaine.
