After losses in their last two games, the Central Lakes College Raiders were on top again Saturday with a 65-52 victory over Fergus Falls in a Southern Division game.
Nikki Pearson scored 21 points, leading eight scorers for CLC.
“We really wanted to win after losing Wednesday,” Pearson said. “We were really focused and made a lot of good buckets. Coach (Dennis Eastman) having us do pushups for missing free throws during practice helped a lot, too.”
CLC a started off with a 10-point lead, but after the Spartans pulled ahead, the Raiders won the game with their 100-percent free shooting (16 for 16).
“This is the first time (100 percent on free throws has) happened in years,” Eastman said. “The girls have been training really hard on free throws this past week and it’s paid off.”
Jalynn Lamb added 18 points and six rebounds for CLC.
“This was just a great win for us,” Eastman said. “We really needed this to get on track. They came out really strong and they were strong at the end. They weren’t slacking at all out there.”
