After Central Lakes College’s 18-game win streak was snapped by Minnesota West on Wednesday, the Raiders proved they were resilient Saturday with a 92-66 victory over Fergus Falls in a Southern Division game.
Maurice Hernandez sank five three-point shots and finished with 31 points for the Raiders.
“(Winning) felt really good after that loss on Wednesday,” Hernandez said. “It was an intense game and I just played hard.”
It was a tight game with the score tied six different times. The Raiders, ranked No. 1 in NJCAA Division III, finished the first half down by one, then came back with a strong effort in the second and outscored the Spartans 55-28.
Kwamaine Johnson scored 15 points in the last eight minutes to finish with 17 points for CLC, followed by Brandon Davis who added 13.
“After our loss on Wednesday, we really needed this win,” CLC coach Jim Russell said. “The guys had a lot to prove and they did. They all filled their roles and showed exceptional leadership.”
