Pequot Lakes High School seniors Brooke Trottier and Josh Olson have been selected to represent Pequot Lakes in the Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award program, Pequot activities director Marc Helmrichs announced Tuesday.
The Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award is sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League. The award goes to high school seniors who have a 3.0 or better grade-point average and who participate in League-sponsored athletic and fine arts activities.
Trottier carries a 3.9 GPA while participating in dance and softball and is a captain in both sports. She was a member of the dance team that qualified for the 2009 state tournament. Trottier, who plans to attend the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, is the daughter of Deanne and Patrick Trottier.
Olson participates in band, cross country and track and field. He has been a varsity cross country runner for four years and was a captain this fall. Olson plans to attend the University of North Dakota and major in mechanical engineering. He carries a 3.6 GPA and is the son of David Olson and Jaime Stevenson.
League officials will announce the four award recipients (a girl and a boy from a Class A and a Class AA school) at an on-court recognition ceremony March 24 at the Target Center. Each award recipient will receive a four-year $1,000 scholarship.
