ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Jenna Ruzich, Baxter, skiing for Nisswa Northwest Biathlon, took third place in the 7.5-kilometer sprint in the Youth Women’s class of the U.S. Youth and Junior World Championship Team Trials on Wednesday.
Ruzich missed three shots in prone and one in standing, finishing in 32:26, which was 3:20 behind winner Tara Geraghty Moats of Vermont.
Ty Hadrits, Brainerd, was 12th in the Youth Men’s 7.5km race, shooting 2,1 in 27:51, which was 4:11 out of first. The division was won by Sam Dougherty of Anchorage.
The next race is a 10km Thursday using a pursuit format with four shooting stages, followed by a 6km sprint for women and a 7.5km sprint for men Friday. The U.S. team will be picked Friday and will travel to Finland for the World Championships in February.
