VOLLEYBALL: Flyers continue to roll

MORA — Alayna Kabanuk and Jennifer Hortness each smacked down 21 kills to lead the Little Falls Flyers to their fifth win in a row — a 3-2 decision over the Mora Mustangs in Tuesday’s Granite Ridge Conference match.

Kala Bzdock led the Flyers with 23 set assists and four ace serves. Jessica Hanowski had 24 digs to go with 22 set assists and Lex Kapsner added 21 digs. 

The Flyers are in first place in the conference standings with an 8-0 mark, 14-7 overall.  The Mustangs had entered the game in second place with a 7-1 record, 12-5 overall.

PIERZ — Bridget Bednar finished with 14 kills and Brook Brausen tipped 27 set assists for Pierz in a 3-0 victory over Foley in non-conference volleyball Tuesday.

Bednar also finished with two blocks and Brausen and Tiara Hopkins each finished with 17 digs for the Pierz.

MENAHGA —  Teresa Moenkedick turned in 13 kills, 27 digs and five ace serves to lead the Verndale Pirates to a 3-2 win over Menahga Tuesday.

Sarah Moenkedick added 19 set assists, while Jordanna Schluttner contributed 10 blocks and 11 kills. Miranda Dougherty also had 11 kills and four blocks for Verndale.

Heather Theisen accumulated 25 set assists and four blocks and Caitlin Volkmann tallied 18 digs for the Wolverines.

AITKIN —  The Rush City Tigers improved their Great River Conference record to 8-0 with a 3-0 sweep over Aitkin Tuesday.

Jenae Herron and Melissa Paulson each totaled four kills and Bailey Nordean and Kassie Kokesh finished with six set assists for Aitkin.
