The lakes area will host CRA Road Racing at Brainerd International Raceway Sept. 23-25 and the AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Championship at North Central Speedway in Barrows Sept. 24.

AMA Pro Flat Track stars will battle on the one-half mile track at NCS. The points race is heating up with only two events following the event at NCS.

This is only time the AMA Pro series will visit Minnesota in 2011. NCS picked up the canceled Canterbury Park date.

With five remaining AMA Pro Harley-Davidson Insurance Expert Twins events the top nine riders have a mathematical chance at the No. 1 spot.

Points leaders in Twins include Jared Mees, 129 points, 3 wins; Bryan Smith, 106 points, one win; Sammy Halbert, 102 points, one win; Kenny Coolbeth Jr., 101 points, one win; Jake Johnson, 97 points; Chris Carr, 73; Matt Weidman, 72; Brad Baker, 62; Johnny Lewis, 59.

Mikey Martin, who has three wins, is the points leader in singles, followed by Gerit Callies and Michael Avila. Only 12 points separate the top three racers.

Minnesota GNC Pro Singles racers include Nick Mataya, Conner Anderson, Danja Dan Jacobson and Mac "Attack" McGrew.

VIP packages and vendor booth areas are available by contacting KT Torbert at NCS at (218) 839-2137 or email  kt@racencs.net or www.racencs.net.

The Worldwide Machining and Welding 5-Hour Endurance Race at BIR consists of teams with 2-5 riders and one bike with points and money awarded in four classes. Racers must possess a current CRA license or be licensed with another club (MRA, CCS, etc.). Rules for the endurance race can be found at www.cra-mn.com.

Online registration for the weekend, including the 5-hour endurance race, is open until 8 p.m. Sept. 18.
