Lange leads Pequot past Staples-Motley

STAPLES — Logan Lange rushed 15 times for 209 yards and caught three passes for 40 yards to lead the Pequot Lakes Patriots to a 27-14 win over Staples-Motley in Mid-State Conference football Thursday.

Nevin Greer scored on a 5-yard burst in the first quarter for the Patriots, and the Cardinals responded in the second with a 1-yard plunge from Jordan Denning.

Denning gave Staples-Motley a 14-7 lead in the third quarter, but Pequot Lakes responded with the next 20 points. Lange had a 61-yard run, and Nathan Stonacek and Greer each scored on runs for the Patriots’ final margin.

The Mid-State Conference does not sponsor football. This was a Heart O'Lakes Conference division crossover game, i.e., doesn't count for the standings.
