After another successful season with the UC-Irvine Anteaters, Tommy Reyes returns to the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers on Thursday when they are on the road against the Willmar Stingers.
Reyes, who played for the Lunkers in 2010, had a strong year for a UC-Irvine team that made it to the super regionals in the NCAA tournament. He hit .289 with 29 RBIs. After winning the Los Angeles Regional, Irvine fell to Virginia in the super regionals, losing the series 2 games to 1 on June 13.
Last year for the Lunkers, Reyes was solid defensively in the infield. He also produced offensively, hitting .257 with 22 RBIs.
“Tommy is going to bring great defense,” Lunkers field manager Ryan Levendoski said in a news release. “He’s going to step into the lineup anywhere from the 2-hole all the way down to the 7-hole. We're just looking for Tommy to solidify our infield defense.”
Reyes, who played second base for Irvine this year, also can play shortstop and third base.
