Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth, the Brainerd Bees rallied for two runs and a 4-3 win over Jimmy’s Pour House of Sauk Rapids in a Lakewood League season opener Saturday at Adamson Field.
Patrick Skogen was hit by a pitch to lead off the ninth and moved to second on a wild pitch. Tim Martin’s sacrifice bunt moved Skogen to third and Kevin Peterson’s base hit tied it 3-3. Peterson stole second and third and scored the winning run when the catcher’s throw sailed into left field.
Peterson finished 3-for-4 with two runs, an RBI and two stolen bases. Craig McCluney and Jake Caughey were both 2-4 with doubles, Bruce London was 1-3 with a double and two walks and Skogen scored two runs.
Burrell Flanagan pitched five innings, with two hits, one run (earned), two strikeouts and four walks. Chris Smolke pitched two innings, allowing two hits and three runs (one earned) with one strikeout. Martin pitched the last two innings and got the win. He allowed one hit and struck out one.
