Brainerd offensive lineman Joe Haeg and Warriors running back Jordan Hayes will play for the North team against the South in the Minnesota High School All-Star Football Game.
The contest will kick off at 7 p.m. June 25 at TCF Bank Stadium on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
Brainerd’s Ron Stolski will be head coach of the North team. Leo Pohlkamp of Pierz will be one of Stolski’s assistants.
Players and coaches representing 79 schools and 33 conferences will participate. They were selected by members of the Minnesota Football Coaches Association.
The 2011 game will be the 38th in the current annual series and the 49th overall. For the first time since 1979, the game will feature North All-Stars versus the South. In 17 previous North vs. South games, between 1945 and 1979, the series was tied at 8-8-1.
The Metro vs. Outstate series ended in 2010, with the Metro winning the overall series 16-15.
The 2011 game will include 13 players from the Associated Press All-State First Team, including Reggie Gandy of DeLaSalle, the AP Player of the Year, who will play at South Dakota State.
Sixteen players from the AP All-State Second Team, and three from the Nine-Man All-State Team, will also participate.
Among the players are North Dakota State recruits Josh Colville (Minnetonka), Charles Smith (Burnsville), Joey Sonnenfeld (Osseo) and Frank Veldman (Eastview); South Dakota recruits Nick Jacobs (Delano) and Nick Olson (Richfield); South Dakota State recruits Eric Kline (Blaine) and Luke Marks (St. Thomas Academy); and North Dakota recruit Brandon Anderson of Sartell-St. Stephen.
Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter will host all-star training camp. Players and coaches will report to Gustavus on June 19.
Tickets may be purchased from the high school coach in your community. Tickets will also be available at the TCF Bank Stadium gate June 25.
