LOCAL SHORTS: Warriors to induct four into athletic hall of fame

The Brainerd Warriors will induct four alumni into their athletic  hall of fame at the all-sports banquet May 2.

Megan Arns, Darec Liebel, Chris Studer and Mike Bialka are the inductees.

Banquet tickets cost $12 and are free to all letterwinners, who may get their tickets beginning Monday in the Brainerd High School Activities Office.

Tickets for the public go on sale April 25.

 

Softball team beats Alex

Brainerd defeated Alexandria 17-9 in junior varsity softball Tuesday.

Winning pitcher Emily Hill struck out four. Rachel Schutt was 3-for-3 with a double and Nikki DeChaine went 3-3 as Brainerd won its opener.

 

Track meet canceled

The Moorhead Invite track and field meet that was scheduled Friday has been canceled due to inclement weather forecast for Friday.

Brainerd was one of the schools scheduled to participate. 

 

 

Freshmen baseball splits

The Brainerd Warriors freshmen baseball team split a doubleheader with Moorhead on Tuesday.

Alex DeRosier, Nate DeChaine and Blaine Grater had two hits apiece and Jamie Stall tripled as Brainerd won Game One 5-1.

Moorhead won Game Two 7-4. Zack Houle had a 2-run single for Brainerd.

Freshmen softball loses

The Brainerd freshmen softball team lost two games at Alexandria on Tuesday. 

In an 8-7 loss, Maria West had two singles and scored a run. Maddie Franz tripled while Sara Wennerstrand and Kristina Anderson doubled. 

In the second game, Emily Peabody scored two runs and Maddie Franz and Kelsey Boyd combined to strike out five in a 14-5 loss.
