BOXING Rubin wins Upper Midwest championship

Brainerd’s Nate Rubin captured the 132-pound championship in the Upper Midwest Golden Gloves Boxing Tournament last weekend at Northern Lights Casino in Walker.

Rubin defeated Francisco Solis of Minneapolis and advances to the national tournament April 25-30 at Indianapolis.

Other champions from Region 4 included Kevin Harper of Wadena (114) and Glenn Sommars of White Earth (heavyweight).
