Fishing report

From Outdoor News

LAKE MILLE LACS

The best perch action on the east side has been on the shallower structure close to shore or off the deep structure in 30 feet. On the west side, you'll find perch off the 27- to 30-foot rocks near Seguchie Point and Brown's Point. Overall, the perch bite has been inconsistent, which means one day they bite and the next they don't. The time of day they're most active also changes regularly. Tullibee reports remain favorable off the mud flats in 30 feet or more with the Eight Mile giving up the most numbers. Enter the Outdoor News Ice Out contest and you could win $250. Click here for more details.

LEECH LAKE AREA

Perch action has slowed a bit this week, but they are still biting at a decent pace in 10 to 14 feet. Areas worth noting include Sucker Bay, Second Duck Point, and the south side of Trader's Bay. Tullibees are being found suspended over 20 to 30 feet off Stoney Point. The west side of Shingobee Bay is producing sunfish and crappies in 18 to 25 feet.

BRAINERD/NISSWA AREA

Crappies are hitting minnows in 10 to 20 feet on Round Lake, Cullen Lake, Sullivan Lake, and the Merrifield end of North Long Lake. Sunfish reports have been limited with a few fish coming off Nisswa Lake, Lake Hubert, and Round in 10 to 12 feet.

CROSS LAKE AREA

Crappie action has been consistent during the evening hours on the Whitefish Chain and many smaller lakes in the area over 25 to 30 feet. Glow jigs tipped with minnows, waxworms, or spikes have worked best. Look for sunfish in 10 to 14 feet on most lakes and they seem to prefer waxworms or spikes.

EMILY AREA

Minnows are producing crappies on Lake Esquagamah in 18 feet. Crappies also can be had on Mitchell Lake over 30 to 35 feet. Waxworms are turning sunfish at Fox Lake in 15 feet early and late in the day.

HACKENSACK AREA

Panfish action continues to be pretty limited and there doesn't seem to be many people fishing for sunfish and crappies. The few fish being caught have been small and there isn't a lake in the area that's producing numbers of them.

McGREGOR AREA

Four-wheelers are the best travel option on the lakes in this area. Crappies continue to be caught during the morning and evening hours at Big Sandy Lake in 15 to 20 feet. Sunfish and tullibee reports have been limited this week.
