Jenna Ruzich of Baxter and Ty Hadrits of Brainerd competed in the Minnesota Cup No. 1 on Sunday at Mt. Itasca in Coleraine.
In the 7.5km Mass Start Race, with temperatures just below zero and a strong wind, Ruzich missed 1,0,2,2 in shooting with a total time of 35:54 for second place in the Youth Women's Division. She cut more than 1.5 minutes from a race on the same course in December 2009.
Hadrits shot 1,1,4,3 in 34:19 for third in the Youth Men's event. He was edged out of second by Nisswa NW Biathlon teammate CJ Merhar of Bemidji, who shot 5,2,3,2 and finishing in 34:05.
Zean Baker, Nisswa, finished fourth with 35:28, shooting 3,4,2,3.
Noah Baker, Nisswa, finished second in the Boys class in 47:05, shooting 5,3,3,2.
