About This Slideshow:
Reilly Peterson loves her mother — she just doesn’t like her very much right now.
Nor do her Brainerd Warriors teammates, who mustered what energy they had left to beat the Melrose Dutchmen 105-81 Thursday at Brainerd High School.
Kris Peterson is the wellness coordinator at the Brainerd Family YMCA. This season she’s coordinated a dry-land workout regiment for Brainerd swimmers that has the girls feeling the burn.
Tuesday, she ran the Brainerd girls up and down the football stadium stairs and around the Brainerd track. She has them jumping on boxes, crunching their cores and pumping their arms. All to the delight of Brainerd head coach Dan Anderson.
“I love her as a mother, but when she gets to dry land I don’t like her,” Reilly Peterson said. “She has wanted to do this for a while. But I can tell we’re all stronger by a lot. In the last half of our races, you can definitely see it compared to other teams. We pull ahead more at the end.”
