Ford Tri-Motor in Brainerd for 84th Anniversary Flights | BrainerdDispatch.com | Brainerd, Minnesota

About This Slideshow:

Airport visitors stepped back in time with two historic recreations Thursday. The Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport is hosting, this weekend, a 1929 Ford Tri-Motor plane, one of just a handful still flying. The same plane last visited Brainerd in 1929. About 18,000 people came out eight decades ago to witness the event. Those who stopped by this July 4th got a taste of history as two plane rides that happened 84 years ago were recreated. The first, a plane full of Brainerd Dispatch employees took to the air. The second, newly-crowned Miss Minnesota Rebecca Yeh of Nisswa went up to recreate the flight experienced by then-Miss Minnesota Margaret Anderson, who was also a native of the Brainerd lakes area. Yeh is believed to be the only local Miss Minnesota since 1929. Brainerd Dispatch - Kelly Humphrey.
