So after waiting all year for fall — the season every sportsman dreams of — as usual I’m running in circles.
On the hunting side of things turkey, grouse, archery deer, duck and goose are all open. Most of us are running around with so many licenses you almost need another wallet. Most years you can space things out but this year they are all so good.
Duck hunting continues to be great, with the woodies still sticking around and some ringers and mallards continuing to come down. But then again there are so many geese around maybe a guy should go goose hunting. Then I think about how good grouse and turkey taste. Decisions, decisions.
The only thing that is a hold up is the leaves are taking their sweet time falling. So the bow is still hanging in the garage. The target has a few more holes in it but the deer are safe for another week or so.
The fall fishing is really heating up also. Gull Lake and some other local lakes are finally giving up some limits of walleyes. The river is also heating up and with the colors of fall and the scenery of the river it’s the time of year to get out and enjoy it all.
Maybe a coin toss is in order because I just can’t decide.
